Get your Renault radio code using your VIN
Don't have the serial number to hand? With your VIN (chassis number) we retrieve the original radio code directly from the Renault factory database — for original factory radios from around 2010 onwards.
Get radio code by VINWhy use the VIN?
The radio code belongs to the radio, not the car — there is no formula to calculate it from the VIN alone. But Renault links every original radio to the chassis number of the car in its factory database. That means we can, with your VIN, request the correct code directly from Renault. Perfect when the serial number on the radio is unreadable or you can't remove the radio.
How it works
Enter your VIN
Enter your 17-character chassis number (VIN) and complete your payment. The price for the VIN service is double that of a regular code request, because we retrieve the code manually from the Renault database.
We request the code
Immediately after your payment we request the original radio code directly from Renault, linked to your VIN.
Your code by email
You will receive the radio code by email, usually within a few minutes. Use it to unlock your car radio.
Where do I find my VIN?
The VIN (Vehicle Identification Number) is a unique 17-character code. You can find it in several places:
- On the identification plate in the engine bay or the driver's side door pillar
- At the bottom of the windscreen, visible from outside the car
- On your vehicle registration document (V5C in the UK / title or registration certificate in other countries), under 'VIN' or 'chassis number'
- In the vehicle's paperwork or service booklet
Which cars are eligible?
The VIN service works for Renault and Dacia models with an original factory radio, generally from the 2010 model year onwards. If your car has a replacement or non-original radio, Renault cannot link the code — in that case you pay nothing or receive a full refund.
Frequently asked questions
What if Renault doesn't have the code?
For an original factory radio Renault almost always has the code on file. If it doesn't work in an exceptional case — for example with a replaced radio — we handle your order personally and you receive a full refund.
How long does it take?
The code is requested immediately after payment and sent by email, usually within a few minutes.
Why is the VIN option more expensive?
A code via the serial number is calculated automatically. With the VIN option we retrieve the code manually from the Renault factory database; that is why this service is double the standard rate.
